In fact, it is probable to identify a natural effect in man and all he has created. This is how the blue morpho butterfly's myth, which we selected as our project's symbol, commenced a bit for us.
Since ancient times, numerous cultures have implemented butterflies as a symbol of holding to life and hope despite their fragility. It also used words such change, transformation, and miraculous.
The Blue Morpho is a kind of butterfly that is rare in nature and one of the biggest butterflies in the world. For the natives who come upon this butterfly in the jungle, it symbolizes "Healing, Healing" and lives in the South American rainforest.
As a result, this rare butterfly accompanies with us as a symbol of our project on an unique experience. It serves as a reminder that every attempt we make to research and treat rare diseases has a profound impact on patients all across the world.
Let's now learn a little more about our blue morphose.
This species of butterfly, whose scientific name is Morpho menelaus, has extremely huge wings that can span up to 25 cm. Males are bigger than females and have more vivid colors.
The butterfly's most common color, blue, which has little precedent in nature, is created by the regular flaky structures on its wings that are microscopic in size. The shorter the wavelength, the bluer color is produced by this structure, which reflects light. In other words, the blue color we observe is not a product of the pigments, but rather the refraction of light by these scales.
Morphos have their own unique flying pattern, which they create by drawing zigzags by moving their large sail wings up and down. The wings immediately shut after landing, exposing their brown bottom face. All Morpho species are prey for different birds, hence they use this approach to protect themselves quite effectively.
The wings charming blue color is completely structural; thus, it never ages even after years. Unfortunately, this exposes morphos to the risky attention of collectors. Furthermore, because of strong commercial collecting efforts for use as samples in jewelry, decorations, or display boxes, these blue species are endangered because to their attractiveness.
We believe it is accurate to state that Blue Morpho, one of the mysteries of creation, continues to fight for survival with many other endangered species
